कटहरक वृक्ष शाखायुक्त, सपुष्पक तथा बहुवर्षीय वृक्ष छी । ई दक्षिण तथा दक्षिण-पूर्व एसियाक मूल-निवासी छी । पेड़ पर होमए वाला फलसभमे एकर फल विश्वमे सबसँ पैग होइत अछि ।[३] फलक बाहरी सतह पर छोट-छोट काँट पाबल जाइत अछि । ई प्रकारकें सन्ग्रन्थित फलके सोरोसिस कहल जाइत अछि ।
ल्याटिन नाम

(1789) by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, from a specimen collected by botanist Philibert Commerson. Lamarck said of the fruit that it was coarse and difficult to digest.
